Acrylic, 20×16
Artist: Joseph Smart
Creating tensions through bold and dramatic use of line, contrasted against the bright colors of his works sum up Joseph’s compositions. Joseph often chooses to create a series of paintings, pursuing one work after another until the subject at hand is, in his mind, resolved. Each completed piece reflects a history of its predecessors, often having evolved in a different media. Joseph works in an organized, direct fashion, perfecting each step of his painting process before moving on. In the end, he produces works that are thoughtful, bold and dramatic, showcasing his development and growth.
