The 9th Annual Chrysalis Art Show and Sale presented by Scotiabank was once again a great success and more than 200 guests were welcomed throughout the 3 hours of the event.
Like last year, leading up to the art show we had the opportunity to head to the CTV Edmonton studio to speak about the art show with co-host, Rob Williams. Mr. Williams has become a friend of Chrysalis and his support and been nothing short of phenomenal. The interview can be viewed here: http://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/video?clipId=1105376
At the show itself there were almost 350 pieces of art that were for sale ranging from canvas, water colour, crafts, and hand-crafted sculptures. 24 artists participated in the creation of the art. All of these pieces were uniquely and carefully organized in the Art Studio this year. The outer area was utilized as a reception area and the studio housed all the art and each artist had their own gallery space. There were many compliments received on this approach as guests were able to find multiple pieces to enjoy by the same artist in many case.
Guests not only enjoyed the artwork but also a variety of appetizers prepared from scratch through Chrysalis’ own chef, Colleen Mahon and her team of volunteers. The hors d’oeuvres were paired with specially chosen wines through the wine reps representing our event partners at Kegs And More.
As the night wound down, there were many people with tired feet and big smiles. It was a wonderful evening raising over $10,000 shared between the artists and the Art Studio!
Huge thanks from the Chrysalis Art Team to everyone that helped make this a fantastic evening!
This was the final art show for our art instructor, Michael Wallace, as he is off to enjoy retirement and some travels. Thank you, Michael, your contributions to the Art Studio have be phenomenal and you will be missed.
