Since 2008, the Government of Alberta has been hosting Alberta Culture Days, originally known as Alberta Arts Days, at a number of sites throughout the Province.
Started as a one-day celebration, this popular promotion was extended to three days shorty after it’s introduction. This year, Alberta Culture days will be held September 26-28 at numerous sites to showcase Alberta’s diverse arts, multicultural, heritage and nonprofit/voluntary organizations; creative industries and individual artists. This year, 92 sites across Alberta have signed up to be part of Alberta Cultural Days in some way, shape or form. We are pleased to announce that Chrysalis Edmonton is one of these sites!
Chrysalis Edmonton (13325 St. Albert Trail) will play host to one of the cultural sites on Saturday, September 27 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in the form of a Cultural Block Party!
One of the main sources of pride throughout our organization is the vastly diverse workforce and while we celebrate our differences during the year, the Cultural Block Party is our opportunity to also include the community around us!
The Cultural Block Party will be held on the Chrysalis Edmonton facility grounds and feature a number of different cultural activities throughout the day. An Eritrean Coffee Ceremony will kick off the days festivities. Several workshops will be held including drumming circles, belly dancing, music and movement and an improvisation session. We will also host the comedy stylings of Chrysalis individual, Erica Richards and live music from the Red Hot and Cool Jazz Quartet.
The Cultural Block Party is open to everyone to attend and we are very much looking forward to this exciting event. We are also looking for volunteers to help out with many of the activities we have planned. If you are interested in being a part of our Cultural Block Party, please contact Melani Orr at 780.482.0346 or via email at [email protected]
