On Sunday, October 28th Chrysalis hosted the 22nd Annual Achievement Awards ceremony presented by Servus Credit Union in Edmonton. This year the event was held at the Mayfield Inn and Suites and we recognized the accomplishments of nearly 75 individuals, DATS drivers, volunteers and community sites. Nearly 250 people attended the event including Mayor Stephen Mandel, MLA’s Steve Young, Sohail Quadri, David Dorward and Matt Jeneroux. A number of Chrysalis board members and staffers were also on hand and helped in presenting the numerous awards that were handed out during the event.
It was great to have the Mayor address the audience yet again as he has in the past and he was quite complimentary to the organization and the work we provide. Along with our special guests, two members of the Chrysalis Social Butterflies Toastmasters Club presented prepared speeches as a way to showcase the club to those in the room. Nicole Chalifoux and Omar wowed the crowd with their public speaking skills and both received standing ovations for their efforts!
Nearly 60 individuals were recognized with certificate awards, 11 DATS drivers and administration staff were recognized for their outstanding service, and our special awards went to some very deserving winners. Our special awards went to the following recipients:
- Kristine Grimson – Growth and Opportunity Award
- Juston Whaling – Excellence in Volunteerism Award
- Nicole Chalifoux – Milesnes to Achievement Award
- St. Michael’s Extended Care Centre, – Chrysalis Partnership Award
- Charlie Weinzierl – Servus Credit Union Community Award
- Kim Dingler & Greg Laskey – Chrysalis Champion Award
- Ellie Jerram & Javier Fernandez – Art Achievement Award
The Edmonton Journal stopped by to cover the event which resulted in a great article featuring the Social Butterflies Toastmasters Club being published in the morning paper the next day. That exposure has already yielded increased interest from other media outlets and members of the community about our club!
The event was fantastic and it seemed like everyone had a good time. Thank you very much to the AAA committee, all the staff members who volunteered their Sunday to help with the event and to all the board members who attended and participated in the program. Without the support of all of you, we would not be able to put on this type of event for our individuals. Already looking forward to next year!
